Connecting the subsurface to the future of energy.
Energy is the most important story, and the subsurface has a big role to play in its future.
Most people already know the subsurface through oil and gas. I think its potential in geothermal, carbon storage, hydrogen, helium and lithium just doesn't get enough attention.
Deep Energy is my way of giving it that attention. I talk with the people building these projects, keep charts and maps on where each technology stands, build models you can use to vet a project and track the news as it happens, all with the numbers first.

To make energy exciting and honest at the same time.
So that more people understand, fund and build the future of energy.
If you're in the energy industry, you know how exciting it is. Those outside of it may not understand the connection to our everyday lives and how much it improves our quality of life. Making energy exciting means creating that connection for everybody.
There's a lot of hype out there with certain technologies, and I get it. These companies are looking for funding and need people excited so their projects get built, but it's not always honest. I really want to put the numbers behind these projects and help promote the businesses and people doing great things, because ultimately, the pursuit of available, reliable and affordable energy uplifts the whole world.
Honest and constructive
Question the claims and keep the conversation constructive.
Promote and be promoted
Both sides should leave better off.
Build a community
The right connection between two people is what really helps build projects.
Put the numbers in perspective
You might want to build 6 GW of geothermal, but let's see what that actually requires.

I'm a geologist, and Deep Energy is my mission to connect the subsurface to the future of energy.
Inside the industry, I want people to have the tools, the information and the intelligence to make better decisions about where capital goes. Outside of it, I want people to get excited about energy and become advocates for it.
This is bigger than a podcast. It's an entire brand built to stoke that excitement, and I want it to be a voice people trust and want to listen to.
I've spent my career in the subsurface, from exploring Nisku carbonate reefs in Alberta to covering CCUS, geothermal, natural hydrogen, helium and lithium as an analyst. I hold an MSc in Integrated Petroleum Geosciences from the University of Alberta.
